Cornelius Occupation: Roman Centurion Religion: Christianity
Cornelius was a Roman centurion who lived in Caesarea Maritima, a port city on the Mediterranean Sea. He was a devout man who prayed to God every day. One day, an angel appeared to him and told him to send for Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. Peter went to Cornelius' house and preached to him about Jesus. Cornelius was baptized and became a follower of Jesus. He was the first Gentile to convert to Christianity.
